Once I had a customer who came in with his wife looking for shoes.  In the end, they didn’t find any shoes but the husband asked me to ring up some underwear his wife had selected for him.  His wife left to go to the Lady’s Room leaving the two of us at the cash register.  After his wife left he told me he thought the underwear she selecting was too expensive.   I told the guy i would never represent myself as an authority on the mating habits of heterosexuals, but I would think that if a wife chooses underwear for her husband, it’s because she wants to see him wearing them.  It’s been my experience underwear generally puchased to appeal to another person.  I suggested he should bite the bullet and buy the underwear.  If he chose to reject his wife’s selection to save a few bucks, there might be consequences. Enough said.
