Once I saw two elderly gentlemen (more elderly than Ed and I) in a store walking arm in arm while they were shopping. I approached them and said they were an example to all folks about the beauty of a relationship between two men.  I further told them my heart was warmed by their courage in showing their affection so publicly.  The two of them made it quite clear they were not guy.  Although they didn’t have an issue with being gay, they were simply neighbors.  They were arm in arm because of the health problems of one of the men that required him to have support when walking. They were still a great example of neighbors helping each other out but the encounter became a little embarrassing.  I’m sure I’ll never see them again.
